Smuggled 5 kg gold seized near city airport Bhubaneswar, three NRIs detained

Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today seized a huge quantity of smuggled gold near Biju Patnaik International Airport here and detained three non-resident Indians (NRIs) in this connection.
The smuggled gold weighing over 5 kg worth Rs 1.82 crore was seized from the three NRIs who arrived from Kuala Lumpur. They were about to leave for Kolkata when the intelligence sleuths intercepted them. Later during search, smuggled gold were seized from their shoes.
Earlier on May 4, gold cylindrical bars worth Rs 9,64,818 were seized by the Customs Department officials at the airport here.
The smuggled gold cylindrical bars weighing 301.60 gm was being smuggled inside wheels of trolley bag of a passenger, who arrived at Bhubaneswar airport from Kuala Lumpur in AirAsia flight. A Chennai-based man was detained by the Customs sleuths in this connection.
